Poor Charli has been miserably sick for several days now (although today I think she's finally recovered). She started coughing last Friday, and then over the weekend deteriorated with a super stuffy nose and eventually a pretty good fever. She has stayed home from sharecare/school all week so far, and has been absolutely pathetic. She had shadows under her eyes, and she just liked to lie on the couch, cough, then wipe her nose with the tissue she's always holding, and then moan softly. She sleeps very late, and takes a nap in the afternoon, and then still goes to bed at her regular time. I took her to the doctor on Tuesday, and it turns out she has an ear infection, too, although it doesn't seem to bother her at all. As of Tuesday evening her fever has been pretty much gone, so we didn't even give her antibiotics for it.
Since she was too miserable and tired to go out and do anything, we've been letting her watch more TV than usual - she watched Wizard of Oz twice, and asks me about Dorothy now. :) This afternoon, she learned a new skill. That's right, folks, Thursday, January 20, 2011, is the day that Charli learned to surf the internet. Well, YouTube at least. I explained to her how to use the mouse, and she is now able to (with a proper starting point, like the video for the Baby Beluga children's song) click on videos that interest her and watch them. We even made her a list of favorites, so she can find the ones she particularly likes quickly. It is both amazing and scary to see how much she enjoys it - we'll definitely have to be careful to limit her screen time.
