Looks good, right? The shelves are still a bit messy, but at least all that stuff isn't still on the floor. :)
Charli was really growing out of the bassinet, so we figured we'd better get the crib ready. However, when we got all the pieces out, horrors! The headboard had this big split in the bottom rail. I can't remember exactly when we picked up the crib, but it was a while ago - Brian's parents bought it for us in January when they were out visiting (thanks!). I also have no idea where the receipt is. Ugh. I called Lullaby Lane expecting the worst, and they were so great - they looked up their copy of the receipt (they found it), checked to see if they had the crib in stock (they did), and said they'd just replace the piece that was broken, so we didn't even have to pack all the pieces back up and get a whole new box. It was GREAT. Really it makes up for when I tried to buy our glider there, and we specifically chose everything out of what they had in stock (because the gliders take 8 - 12 weeks to order), but when we were just about to go pick up the glider they called and said they had looked all through the inventory and could not find it. So we had to cancel that and order the glider from somewhere else.
Speaking of which, we did finally get our glider - it took 14 weeks to get here. You can see it quite well in that last picture. Previously we had a loaner, which was the wrong color and did not swivel or recline. This one does both, and it is a definite improvement.
After we picked up the replacement crib part and put together most of the crib, Brian (aka deadbeat dad) took off to do some hardcore carousing. He went to that den of iniquity, Las Vegas, for less than 12 hours (darn that daylight savings, says Brian) to gamble away Charli's college fund with some old school friends. He left Saturday late afternoon, and was home before Charli got up on Sunday morning. I guess he's not really a deadbeat. :)

I don't see her in that first picture... is she holding the camera?
You two looked very proud of yourselves--you have now passed your first "easy assembly" test as parents. Good job, and I think Charli will be grateful as well to have a bed that fits. What a hassle to open the box and find abroken piece, but that too is part of the "easy assembly" promises. But the crib looks good, and the rocker looks extremely comfortable(a great place to sit and read countless books to Charli)
We actually went out and looked at two or three open houses yesterday -nothing really special. We probably won't get too serious for another year or so--this just is not a good time to try and sell with any hopes of getting a good price. But our decision rightnow is exactly where we want to buy--but no doubt in this immediate area. at least when we look at other houses we do realize how really nice our own home is.
Take care of each other--Keep us posted on the latest "Charli acchievements". We love to hear everything Mambaw Lawler
Hi, what a beautiful crib! and you and Brian did an exceptional job putting it together in spite of the setbacks. The glider also looks great in that space. I just love the picture where you're looking at Charli who's lying on the floor. So cute. Korin, you look mahvelous, dalink, the extra poundage seems to be gliding off...must be from carrying in that new glider of yours. Hope Brian was able to put the college money back into the coffers. We miss you all...having Charli here for the week was simply wonderful and it's impossible to replace that little hole in our lives here in FTC...waking up to see her smiling face or coming home to hold her was so, so special. (my eyes are wellin'). No matter how busy it is here, we're all still missing all of you.
Sam had a busy Saturday with her Arts and Science Exhibit at the Curfman Gallery at Colorado State (her second job). They took in 142 entries and judges chose 60 to go on into the show...Sam got one piece into the show. All went well and she's now had a chance to relax. Kim and Brent spent the weekend in Golden, learning first aid for their upcoming Paciific Crest hike. Our home is full and an exciting place, but we still miss Charli! gma
Whoa, you guys are looking at houses! How exciting! It's great to not be in a rush to find a home; then you can make sure you get exactly what you want.
And Patti, I'm afraid the camera is still too heavy for her (maybe with the smaller lens...). I can tell you this, though: I'll probably let her hold the camera before I let her touch my comics!
Charli looks so itty-bitty sitting in the crib. But, surely, she will be the ruler of her domain. Shelves look good. Glider looks spiffy. Even with the broken crib-part and slow-delivered glider, it all looks copacetic now.
