Well, it's certainly a relief to be back home, with our familiar changing table and our familiar bed and our infant bathtub, etc... On the other hand, it sure is lonely, and Charli was fussy all day - probably due to lack of attention. I'm sorry, Charli, I only have 2 eyes! I know you're accustomed to having at least 3 people looking at you at all times, 2 of whom are actively trying to make you smile, but you'll just have to get used to only one person around, who sometimes might have to ignore you!

Looking back on our week in Colorado, it was a whirlwind of Charli-oriented socialization. On Monday, we went to lunch with a bunch of Mom's crew and their relatives, including another new mother and baby. On Tuesday, Charli and Grandma and I visited Mom and Sam at work, so everyone at their office could meet Charli. They were all very familiar with her, as there are pictures all over Mom's and Sam's offices, and Charli has even had her picture in one of the DCE newsletters. Wednesday we went grocery shopping with Kim, and Thursday we went to the local asian market with Mom and got the makings for bubble tea (among other things). Friday it was more partying with another bunch of girls - this time it was Sam's gang. In between all the partying and food shopping was cooking, eating, and Mom taking Charli visiting or people dropping by to see Charli.

One of the best things about the past week was how much time Charli got to spend with Grandma (Taipo). Grandma couldn't hold Charli too much, because she was worried about her arm strength if Charli got restless. She felt strong enough to hold Charli while feeding her, though, and she played with Charli almost every morning. Charli really likes her voice (Charli would stare at Grandma whenever she was on the phone) and watching her hands. I would like to get out to Colorado again before Grandma goes back to Hawaii - maybe we'll head out for Sam's graduation.

Looks like a good time was had by all.
Poor Charli. Now she is stuck in that boring condo with only one full-time and one part-time adorer. Life is hard.
Of course, there are those long range adorers, but Charli is not ready yet for the delayed gratification concept. She is still working on the delayed feeding and changing concepts.
The biggest news might be that Charli travels well. Very freeing.
It is always fun to go on vacation, but also nice to come back home. Funny how that is. From all the pictures it looks like you had a great time, and Charli has met eveyone in the greater Ft. Collins area!! Now it is back to reality. Bummer. But hey---at least you are not at WORK! :-)
I'm sorry she was fussy upon her arrival back home...maybe just really tired from the trip and off schedule a little bit. Hopefully she will be back to her same sweet self soon. Then I will be there in April to spoil her some more. That should make her happy.
OK-I'm curious...what is bubble tea?
o ya, I forgot to mention that our return flight, leaving at 5:50pm, was much less enjoyable than our flight out, which left at 8 something pm. Charli was awake for the entire return flight, and she took a dump right as soon as we got settled. She wasn't terribly fussy, but she wasn't terribly good either. Lesson learned: fly late.
Bubble tea is a very sweet milk tea with giant tapioca balls in it - about a centimeter in diameter - and you drink it through a giant straw. It started in Taiwan, and Rebecca first introduced me to it at an Asian mall in the Chicago suburbs. There are heaps of bubble tea places around the bay area - we'll take you to one when you visit. It took us a couple of tries to get our bubble tea to taste good, but our second attempt was much improved. Yum!
so glad you are safely home-when all is said and done, home really is the best place of all. It will no doubt take Charli a little time to settle back in just as it takes all of us a while to get back into our routines. Thank you, thank you so much for all the blogs. I cannot tell you how much they mean to all of us. It is so much fun to hear of all her new accomplishments and watch her grow even if at long distance.
We are all longing for spring here in St. Louis--we have had so much winter weather here.It is getting tiresome to say the least.
I too wondered about bubble tea. I had never heard of it-sounds interesting.
A dear friend of mine from high school days logged on to your website last week. Pat too thinks that Charli is adorable.
Oh, by the way, Grandma Shane broke her lower left arm last Thursday. She did not really fall, but lost her balance and fell against the door frame hard. The bone did not break all the way through, so all things considered , it could have been much worse. I took her to dr. yesterday for the permanent cast, so she is reasonably comfortable now. she can use both of her hands so although it is a major nuisance, she can function pretty well--just slower. Take care -hugs for everyone. Mambaw
o my goodness - that's terrible. we will have to give her a call.
